    I'm so glad to have found this information. This list eases my burden of researching all my patients drugs for hidden implications that there may be anticholinergic effects, confounding my effectiveness with cognitively impaired clients.

    Follow the links below to see a couple of versions of this list of medications. The Anticholinergic Cognitive Burden Scale (ACB scale) was developed by Dr. Boustani of the Regenstrief Institute and the Indiana University Center for Aging Research.

    The scale scores medications between 1 - 3, with a score of 1 given to medications which has plausible but unproven anticholinergic effects. A score of 2-3 has established and clinically relevant anticholinergic effects.

    Music Enrichment Programs Improve the Neuroal Encoding of Speech in At-Risk Children

    Kraus, et al.

    The Journal of Neuroscience, this week, reported on research evaluating the biological changes following participation in existing successful music education programs. The authors found that greater than 1 year of instrumental music training was associated with larger gains in neural processing. Two years of music training provided stronger neurophysiological function related to reading and language skills.
